Hey friend, I’m Milo
I’m your photographer, adventure guide, and elopement expert!
Let’s plan your best day ever together.

“Milo created a warm and welcoming environment from the second we met;
It was so easy to be vulnerable around Them”
The wedding industry is about as heteronormative as you can get. When I started planning for my own wedding, I expected the process to feel exciting and personal. Instead, it felt uncomfortably detached.
Weddings, as a business, were not created with LGBTQ+ folks in mind. This oppressive lack of representation made every step of the planning process exhausting and degrading.
As a trans and queer person, I didn’t want to be someone’s “inclusivity project.”
Especially when it came to photography, my fears around being trans were even more layered. Would the photographer understand how to direct me in a way that felt like me? Would I spend the whole session feeling awkward and misunderstood? Would I even recognize myself?
Every trans person I know has had the experience of looking through photos and bracing for the disconnect between how we feel versus how we are seen. Suddenly, what should have been a joyful experience meant to preserve happy memories becomes a thing they didn’t even want to approach.
No one should feel fear or dread surrounding any aspect of your wedding day. It’s meant to be your best day ever!
So, with the hearts of all my dearest and queerest friends in mind, I built a business to answer these needs directly.
Folksy Elopements is boldly, proudly, loudly queer-centered.
Not just a “queer friendly” space but one designed with actual queer folks in mind to create a vendor process that actually feels like it was meant for you!
Queer love deserves visibility.
When we uplift queer love, we challenge the heteronormativity of not just wedding culture but the very concept of romance at large. Queer couples should feel genuinely cherished on their special day in the way of every other couple. And that’s the kind of love story I want to celebrate.
Folksy Elopements is your adventure co-pilot!
So much of our daily lives as queer and trans folks centers around explaining ourselves and managing expectations. Your wedding day should not feel like this. I want my couples to have a space that doesn’t demand anything of them but instead gives them over to pure joy.
Nature gives couples this space by default.
The forests don’t care about tradition. The cliffs don’t question your love. The lakes don’t judge and the wind doesn’t look away from your kiss. Out in nature, there is no commentary to be made on your identity, your marriage, or how you choose to celebrate. The day is allowed to be just yours.
Eloping in nature doesn’t mean your wedding is smaller–it means your peace is bigger.
No managing family politics, no multitasking logistics for the ceremony, no dimming your brightness to cater to an audience. You can just be two people, actually getting to experience the moment—YOUR moment!
When couples feel supported, it shows in the photos. Relaxed shoulders, real smiles. Joy so loud it can’t be denied.
I want this joy for every couple I work with, because you deserve it! You deserve to tell your love story at your own pace, somewhere that doesn’t question who you are.
You deserve a day that feels like coming home to yourselves.

I’m the type of person to delight in the details.
I know which trails have the best views, what time to catch golden hour without the crowds, whether you’ll need bug spray or a jacket, and even what kind of shoes will make the hike feel effortless.
Basically, I’m not just a photographer—I’m also your travel guide and adventure buddy rolled into one.
This was a natural evolution from my years as a vanlifer. It’s already a habit for me to dig up the ins-and-outs of a location beforehand so we can have the best day ever. For my couples, it takes a heap of stress off their plate and gets them excited since they know exactly what to expect and why this place is the perfect spot for their elopement.
It is my greatest joy that I get to create for my community. I adore documenting queer love stories across all different natural landscapes and travel routes because queer love belongs everywhere!
Let’s make it happen together!
”My wife and I are a queer couple and especially appreciated having someone who not only has experience working with queer couples, but actively centers queer joy in their photography. We knew we were in such good hands!”

What Sets Me Apart

You’re Safe Here. As a queer, trans person, I know too well the anxiety of finding inclusive vendors. Every part of my business is built to be safe, warm, and welcoming. Queer love, in all its incredible forms, deserves to be celebrated freely. No awkward assumptions. No outdated traditions. You can be completely you.

Born and Raised in the Pacific Northwest. I know our forests, coastlines, deserts, mountain towns, and fast-changing weather like an old friend. The PNW has shaped my lens. On your elopement day, that shows up in real ways: guiding you to safe trailheads, timing around weather windows, and knowing exactly what gear we’ll need so you can have the best experience possible in these locations.

10+ Years of Telling Love Stories. I’ve been photographing couples for over a decade, which means I know how to tease out your genuine chemistry for the camera and document your love story in a way that feels effortlessly real. No forced poses, no stress—just capturing memories that feel like you.
I Will Always Say Yes to an Adventure—
Especially if it’s something I’ve never done before!
One of my absolute favorite memories was climbing all the way to the top of Bell Rock for a couple’s elopement in Sedona, Arizona. While I’d never rock climbed out in nature before, when they told me this was their dream spot, I said yes without hesitation.
And what an incredible adventure it was! I surprised myself with what I was capable of. That moment became just as meaningful in my story as it was in theirs.
That’s the beautiful thing about this work. It’s not just about photographing your love—it’s about getting to chase after big, bold experiences right alongside you.
So whether you’re summiting a mountain, saying vows through a snorkel, or tying the knot in a hot air balloon; no dream is too outrageous.
Follow wherever your heart is calling, I’ll meet you there!

When I’m not photographing the adventures of others,
I’m making my own!

With an amazing partner and our very active Australian Shepherd at my side, I’m honored with a life that feels grounded and full. I travel around in my self-built campervan and shape my days around curiosity in the outdoors. On any given day, you can find me cooking (usually some truly excellent pasta), sewing, painting, or discovering some new craft to get way too obsessed with.
Photography is the magical place where all those instincts finally connect. I feel so privileged to be a full-time photographer—it’s like a dream I can’t believe is real.

What does
it mean to have a FOLKSY Elopement?
It can look like a sunset joyride across the coast, or exchanging intimate vows beside a tranquil mountain lake, or just starting your morning in a quiet forest where the only lookers-on are jaybirds and dragonflies. It means your wedding on your terms, whatever feels right.
Think of me as your roadtrip wizard, helping you on the quest of a lifetime.
Because I’ve built my career around photographing queer and trans couples, you’re not getting the lens of an outsider experimenting with inclusion. You’re getting someone from your community.
Over the last ten years of near-constant travel, I know how to plan simply, pack smart, and keep the day rolling smoothly between landscapes without ever feeling rushed by a timeline.
I learned my craft by shooting in the Pacific Northwest, so I know the landscapes intimately and I know how to choose them. Deep forests, overcast coasts, rushing waterfalls, arid deserts, icy mountains—I can capture the mood with intention and style. My cinematic approach means I’m always watching for realness, to seize all the little moments that other photographers might miss. Because I live for these moments. The pauses, the laughs, and the in-between goofiness deserves to be remembered too.
Your elopement belongs to you—I’m your folksy friend here to provide proof that your perfect day wasn’t just a dream.
